I think it remains in the body and slowly gets released by decomposition or whatever.
The electrical energy you might be talking about which exists in the body is produced by the living body, once dead, the energy stops being produced, it doesn't fly off or something, I don't think.

Our impulses, nerves, muscles, brain, etc all run on electricity. When those functions cease to perform because they lost the energy then it has to dispurt instead of remain in the corpse.
