In the spirit of spring cleaning I decided to clean out my ICQ today... or at least try to! I was able to delete about 80 in my list... boy, there are alot of people with whom I've had brief, meaningless conversation. Many others were cool enough but I couldn't find a purpose keeping them on the list since we're not doing business. I guess I figure if someone has been in there 4-12 months without messaging they can probably be tossed. Otherwise I start building up duplicate 'Dave' and 'John' and 'Bob' people in my ICQ. lol And, when I'm looking for someone I have the neverending scroll... AND, on top of that, all these useless people make noise on my computer when they come and go.
I used the message history option to refresh my memory and make the deletion decisions. If it wasn't for that AND me having the habit of renaming people to their real names instead of their handles I'd be lost. One annoying thing that I battled with was the fact that all the people in my ICQ list prior to my last version update had garbled histories unless I deleted their history after the upgrade. That's pretty fucking stupid considering I did a proper conversion, or at least I thought I did.
Anyone else do any spring cleanin'?
If not, maybe you should just so that none of your ICQ history messages incriminate you
