Essentially for the cost of the xbox hardware (You can get old xboxes for ~100 bucks) and the mod chip, you have a network enabled media center with HDTV + AC3/DTS support, stream movies/mp3s/whatever from your pc to it, etc. If you are a complete homo you can even run GentooX on it and hax0r people using your boat anchor controller.
