DomBuyer - You are right that there is a preoccupation over Terri's case.
Not that she is any less deserving of consideration than the many more who have died since this hit the headlines in the US.
The Schiavo case is now almost a total incestuous issue and, as you might expect, has been politicised beyond any rationality. The media, known for their uselessness, have also contributed to this by introducing a range of views and including opinions of doctors. Meantime, all of them have no facts to work with and even admit they cannot specifically comment on Terri's condition. Kinda pointless.
Meantime.. there are plenty more who have died - even within the US and many more globally.
In addition to Darfur there are millions dying needlessly worldwide - I don't see the US media giving them more than 3 minutes of air time.
It ain't my biz and ain't qualified to say... but maybe in Terri's instance it would not be unreasonable for others to stay the fuck out of it and Michael and Terri's parents have a consensus on this - unless they all agree to terminate, leave her alone.
It does not take a bullshit govt to get in the way and give their unqualified opinions - they need lesson 101 in government and get the fundamentals of separation of powers straight in their heads.
