There are good reasons to have a living will....as long as you remember to update it.

The problem is this.

If you're not carrying one on you....and you become incapacitated, a hospital, by law..and it's called 'implied consent'...must treat you......Must.

So you could be on a vent or other life support systems...even with a living will...

Although, it could be argued, that, if you have one...at the very least...you'll only be on life support for as long as it takes to get the document to the proper authorities.
