Could that have anything to do with her husband denying her any kind of rehabilitation? And if you really followed the story like I am you would know that she is not "gone mentally" . A florida apointed nerological expert has stated that she is not brain dead and has been misdiagnosed. He stated that she is in a state of minimal conciousness.
