Parents do not come into play with this unless you have a written contract stating such.
Getting married makes your spouse your guardian unless you have a written contract stating otherwise.
Your marriage license also did not say what that whatever you tell your wife in private can not be held against you in a court of law, or that you will gain certain tax advantages, inheritance rights and so on.

you must have been mislead. IF you think that someone who says "is that bitch dead yet" should determine if she lives or dies.
Also once you are married to someone you are then "related" in marriage. but your parents will always be your parents.
