Sounds mainly influenced by demands from industry in China and a few other developing countries.
And.. Gotta agree with The Other Steve - the days of "cheap" gas are over. It's too scarce a resource.
But.. On the brighter side, at least for US folks - gas is a lot cheaper in the US than many other industrialised countries where substantial taxes are added to gas prices bringing these to double or more at the pumps. This is sometimes part of a "conservation policy", but, ya gotta be cynical and assume it's govt's bleeding more taxes from consumers.
BTW... Water is going to be the next scarce commodity - it already is in some countries :-)
