I'd have to disagree with you about Cpanel, and pretty much all other control panels for that matter. Unless its a very thin client that is able to read in your current configuration and make changes on the fly its going to bog you down by restricting you to what it supports. Hence, when you will require something that doesnt quite fit into its architecture you are going to break your neck integrating it or scrap the idea altogether. Meanwhile, the majority of these control panels are made for small resellers that arent used to the large traffic demands of the adult market. Common problems include poor log rotation that fill up a system's available diskspace and force you to turn off logging and as a result webstats.
Even expensive software like Urchin has similar problems and we've worked with their support to no real avail in improving their log rotation to better serve really high traffic sites.
Aside from that you are going to be adding alot of load on the server for no real benefit.
Just thought I would share my two cents on control panels. Get a fully managed server and you dont have to worry about it.
