I think most of the argument comes down to sociology and NLP/memetics (google it).
After understand these principles and watching the powerful push the weaker around, it really makes sense. When you watch the psychology of the masses being manipulated so easily but so carefully its almost genius.
Check out some stuff by noam chomsky (

He has a video about consent and how the media/powerfull create beliefs in us, kinda like raising veal.
For example... if everyone was forced to study history and understand WHY history happened and was made then how is it possible for history to repeat itself... like people not knowing they are responsible and obligated to make sure their government isn't corrupt or too powerful, taking away the peoples rights, etc...
every single thing bush does and the less protest/fight we put up just shows us how docile we are... more worried about making money (like me) then taking on the HUGE dragon that is running lose in our country now.
However, if you research memetics then you can see how easily something can become powerful overtime... religion is a perfect example... how did religion become so powerful way back in time, but now is somewhat less powerful? Look at religion as a business, look at *power* as a business...
honestly the more time I spend studying business, marketing, sales the more I see patterns in our everyday NON-business life... even with girls, sounds funny but its true...
ok I think I am done rambling... even though I got plenty more where that came from
