good god this thread got big....
okay, haven't quite absorbed all of this yet, but it looks like we're still missing some crucial elements... (unless I missed them along the way to the bottom here)
Things that are sticking out at me:
1. We got a voting start time, but not and ending time....
2. Have we figured out where the tours go after the vote? Gonna give 'em away somehow or something? Any thoughts?
3. Is the vote going to be handled purely by code, or will there be some sort of judges panel overseeing it?
4. Places.... 1st, 2nd, & 3rd sound good to everyone? (in both categories of course.... )
5. I guess if someone wants to sponsor a designer by providing content to work with for this, I don't personally see any reason why not.... I can't see why that would create any kind of a problem any more than going out and buying it would, so unless someone else can come up with a reason to not allow that, it's cool with me. But it should probably be noted or something "Sponsored by...." "Provided by...." or something like that.... because it IS a factor.... if I go out shopping and select the content I'm going to use, that's different than if someone emails you a couple of zip files to use.... no thought involved in that.
6. As far as the structure of the tour..... that's up to you. It can be a 3 page tour, it can be whatever you want.... if you wanna build a megasite, that's your choice.... as long as it's stays within the category rules....
Category 1: Pure graphics, (animated gifs are okay), HTML, javascripting, & css allowed.
Category 2: Flash.
No fucking databasing or weird plugin shit. Let's keep it simple.
7. No..... you can't submit a logo as an entry. You do a freakin' tour or you don't. And if you wanna make a one page tour, that's your choice, but you're cutting your own throat....
