When people talk about Holland or The Netherlands, they mean the same thing. They refer to the country, located next to Germany and Belgium. Dutch is the language and the people are called "the Dutch".

So where does the confusion come from? A long time ago we conquered some islands. They all belong to "The Kingdom Of The Netherlands". However, The Netherlands itself, it the country.

Don't look at that Wikipedia link about "Holland". Yes, it's true that there are 2 of the 12 provinces in The Netherlands called "South-Holland" and "North-Holland", and combined they make "Holland", but that is NOT what ppl refer to when they talk about Holland. They refer to the country. Forget that province crap.
