There's no excuse for drunk driving, BUT, it is indeed an excuse to get your buddies together and drink some brew in the sun. If you can't enjoy that, then you're either a recovering alcoholic (my sympathies) or like you said, you're really just not a social person and therefore why bother commenting on a holiday which has no bearing on you whatsoever?
