Congratz JFK!
(I posted this elsewhere but thought it would be useful here as well)
I picked up the 7100t for my wife and I a few weeks ago
I'm not as happy as I could be BUT the 7100 is good for all intents and purposes.
Web browsing is very slow on T-Mobile but I'm not sure about other providers. Email and messenging are more than adequate, and actually very good. IMO, utilizing Blackberry as "a service" is far superior to anything else out there in terms of accessing email.
T-Mobile as a cellular service provider is probably the worst in Los Angeles so altough I cancelled my Sprint service, I'm not going to cancel my Nextel and will use the Blackberry only as a backup (as I did with the Sprint phone).
Originally, I was impressed with fact that the phone is Bluetooth enabled and excited that I could go from headset to "hands free" in my car. The problem is that it's not seamless. First, I have to disable the headset, then enable the "hands free" for the car. If I forget, then I have to do it while driving and that makes it more work instead of less. It's not a great big deal, but I thought it would be easier.
Typing on the 7100 has become fairly easy over the past weak. It's just a matter of time to get used to it. I'm a hunt and peck typist with the keyboard as it is, so I'm not super fast to begin with. If you type quickly you should get the hang of this keyboard inside 1 week. Plus, the "predictive typing feature" speeds you along as you're learning to use it.
I haven't synced it up with all my contacts in Outlook yet, but will let you know how it goes when i find the time.
Moving forward, I've disconnected Bluetooth in my car altogether so I'll use the headset when driving. Other than that, I'll only really use the phone as a back up or to talk to my wife (FREE T-Mobile to T-Mobile minutes).
Most importantly, in terms of organizing contacts, scheduling meetings and events, taking notes, and general use as a day planner - it's fantastic, so it will add to my productivity in those areas, as well as - accessing email and mesenging!
Definitely a cool ass tool!
All in all, I give it a 8 out of a possible 10, however, my rating would have been higher if T-Mobile had faster web browsing ... other provders MAY IN FACT offer faster connections.
