Wait 2 years before buying any large, expensive flat panels, that's for sure. They're building a bunch of new factories in China exclusively for LCD's and Plasma's, prices are going to drop like crazy in the near future. This is not necessarily advice for you, since you're looking for a smaller one, but anyone considering dropping $5k+ on a good one should wait. You'll kick yourself in 2 years when it's $999.
