Answers:
1. I assume the traffic can build up cuz its like having people bookmark your blog when they add it to their reader. For example, I am going to be visiting manowar's
http://www.businessvoyeur.com/ blog alot more cuz it is right in my reader and I can see the entries he has posted each day.
2. I think you need to be using an advanced blog script like wordpress or typepad. I am upgrading my blog to wordpress from a simple blog script that did not offer RSS feeds.
