Allow me to explain. I never refused to do anything.

The scorpion says: "Hey frog, how about if I jump on your back and you swim us both across the river?"

Frog: "Now why would I do that? You will end up stinging me, I won't be able to swim, and I will drown.
"
Scorpion: "If you drown then I would drown too."

Frog: "Good point. Hop on my back."

And away they swam.

About half way across the scorpion stings the frog. Just before the frog seizes up he asks the scorpion...

Frog: "Why did you do that? Now we are both gonna die!"

Scorpion: "I'm a scorpion, it's in my nature."

I am but a humble scorpion.
