It started off because we needed to find the information on somebody we sued recently and the only option made available to us as a company cost $10k

One of my companies is tracking domain trends for private clients. We constantly scan whois databases and have one of the largest collection of domain entries out there (except for the freaking ICANN people, of course
). My private clients pay big money for the information we provide
Maybe sometime in the future we'll introduce tools for the rest of the users. Right now we're happy with this model.
