when you are faced with that type of situation, what you say you would do and what you would actually do are two totally different things. My friends were like girl "why didn't you do this or why didn't you do that...blah blah blah I would have done blah blah blah" you never know how you're going to react to a situation until you are actually in it.
if i had a knife and he had a knife, chances are his knife is already out so he has the advantage, i'd give him my money.

Well said... the psychological momentum is very important, and is usually not in your favor in such situations.
