Old school olden days on the web:
I remember when "webmasters" would open a porn site, and without any promotion, they would get thousands of high-quality visitors (there were no other kinds) within a few days.
Anybody else remember this: most of the porn sites you would find on the search engines would have a note that said something like "Sorry, we've closed. We got too popular and can't affod the bandwidth"
There were no banners back then, and almost none of the sites had sponsors, so as soon as the word got out and they started getting hits, they would simply shut down.
I'd love to hear that compaint today "Oh, my site got listed at the top of Yahoo, and now I'm just getting too much high-quality traffic to afford my bandwidth!" LOL
