Just so you all know, up here in Canada we shoot with condoms all the time. In 2003, when I was performing, I went down to LA to see if I could get some work. I went to several adult film companies and they were all willing to hire me -- until I mentioned my condom rule. Then nobody wanted anything to do with me. I ended up shooting one BJ scene for Red Light and another scene with Ed Powers (with condom!) but that was it for me.
What really sucked is that all the other models in the house didn't have a condom rule and were shooting nearly every day. But I just couldn't play Russian Roulette with my health like that -- even though I thought about it long and hard and with the whole "everybody else is doing it" going on around me. Not to mention the pressure I got from my talent agent, who was frustrated because I was staying at his house, but not making him any cash.
In the end I flew home early, completely broke but with health and conscience intact -- and am not sorry at all. Besides, less than a year later, Canadian performer Laura Roxx got HIV from shooting in LA.
I continued to shoot with condoms in Canada without incident until I retired from the business this past January 2005. And another interesting thing to note... I never caught an STI the entire time I was shooting porn - 3 years - and I attribute that directly to condom use!
Practice safer sex, folks... porn industry or not!
