Sad shit. It's particularly saddening to realize that a large share of patents being filed are either 1) strategic moves to head off competition and/or 2) legal "land grabbing" (ie., map out a potentially lucrative tech field with patent 'implementations', wait for actually useful technologies to develop TOWARDS (perhaps not even IN) the field of implementations, and BAM!--cash in with lawsuits.
Sad shit. Considering that the idea behind patents and copyrights is to ENCOURAGE innovation instead of SPECULATION and ANTI-COMPETITION (which is the opposite of encouraging innovation).
