I wouldn't say ashamed, but you have to balance it out with da facts.
Unless you are planning on only dating hoes, and strippers, you are going to have a rough go. Luckily I've had my gf for 6 years, so I do not need to worry about the dating scene. But I know in women I have talked to, when you tell them you are a webmaster they are automatically turned off, and say, "porn".
Plus what we do as adult webmasters is not something your gf or people want to tell their folks, "so what do you do for a living son?", and you reply, "Well pops, I am in the online porn business".
This is why I have a legit company as well as a number of others. So when the internet end comes up, I tell them I own a studio and do internet consulting, and leave it at that. Which is true. I own a production company, and studio, but I try and keep those secondary when talking business outside the office. Last thing I need at the Chamber of Commerce or something is porn coming up, or embarrasement for friends or family.
Depending on your social circle, I would not say ashamed is correct. I'd say it's more about discretion. Just my
