Their genius lies in that they are using an amazingly *small* budget, for a huge amount of publicity. The comment about a high budget and wastefulness seems completely wrong, at least in reference to their eBay purchases. Godaddy shelled out $2.4 million for their 30 second superbowl ad, plus probably another several hundred thousand to produce the commercial. They got some press in addition to the commercial exposure itself, and it's kind of a status symbol to have advertised in the superbowl, but Golden Palace is spending $15k here and $30k there buying crap like grilled cheese sandwiches and used implants off ebay, and they get their name mentioned in over 10,000 newspapers worldwide, mentioned on most major news and entertainment-news shows on both tv and radio, in latenight comedy monologues, and discussed at the water cooler. That is so far from being "wasted money." I seem to recall someone reposted the grilled cheese story on GFY, yet again, about a week ago.
