From CBSNEWS.COM:

The U.S. military has said the car Sgrena was riding in was speeding, and Americans used hand and arm signals, flashing white lights and warning shots to get it to stop at the roadblock.

But in an interview with Italian La 7 TV, Sgrena said, "There was no bright light, no signal." She also said the car was traveling at "regular speed."
One thing is troubling me even if Sgrena's account is to be believed -- if the Army wanted Sgrena dead, why didn't they finish her off on the spot? Witnesses? If there were witnesses, then those witnesses would be able to corroborate either her story or the Army's, would they not? And you must remember, if she had information which her benevolent captors warned might cost her her life, why did Al Jazeera not interview her and share this information with the world? Sgrena's version of the story simply does not hang together. Further, it is perfectly fair play to take the view that she would in fact lie to hurt the US cause, as her reporting quite openly proceeds from the viewpoint that she wants the US out of Iraq.

In short, why should I believe a story which is full of holes (pardon the pun) told by someone who is commited to defeating the coalition cause in Iraq?
