You obviously have not read anything about the case.
The stocks in question netted $40,000.

As far as insider trading (which she was not charged with, BTW) it was never even suggested that she knew IMClones cancer drug application was going to be rejected. The accusation is that her Merrill Lynch stockbroker Peter Bacanovic tipped her off that the CEO of ImClone was unloading his stocks. Martha's defense is that she had a standing order with Bacanovic to sell if the stocks fell below $60. The government claimed that was a lie and that the document they produced showing this standing order was forged after the fact. The only thing Martha Stewart was convicted of was this lie.

Peter Bacanovic was acquitted by a jury of this lie that he and Martha Stewart were supposedly involved in.

She was only convicted by the testimony of a man who changed his story to get more lenient treatment after charges were filed against him.

Another thing, it's unheard of to have an FBI agent involved in a case like this, let alone one who lies for the government to try to help secure a conviction... and gets caught.

I believe her verdict will be overturned on appeal.

Here's a couple links you might read.
