After we rolled-out version 1.0 of the geo-ads, some people on this board gave us shit because they weren't real members. We wanted to get the ads live ASAP, we made a content choice. But, still we listened when the feedback was "We want REAL members in the ads!". So, we went back to the drawing board and decided (for legal reasons) it was best to obtain special, specific permission before using their images in ads. We created an opt-in mechanism for members who were willing to let their images be used for marketing. The pool is growing fast, but is still small enough that you will see the same girls come up again after a few reloads of the page. You asked for REAL members, we gave you REAL members. Please be patient with us while we build our opt-in list and become better able to match members to specific locations --

No, not really.
When a member gives us permission to use their images, we commit the user name and thumbnail to a separate file, stored in a location different from where we store the member-updatable data. If a member changes their handle or quits the site, we don't get an update of that immediately. As a result, you may sometimes not be able to find a member handle from a geo ad in our DB. This is simply an IT matter, not an ethical choice.

These people have given us specific permission to use their images for general marketing purposes. We never promised them we wouldn't say they're from Dayton when they're really from Des Moines.
