this is one solution, but it is cumbersome because let's say you have many domains and each of the domains share different folders of appropriate videos on a different server.
i think what's best is an easy, hands off solution, that is fairly bulletproof---(only members get access, and hotlinkers stay out)
the original poster has a valid question.
there are some efficiencies to having all of your vids on a different server optimized for high traffic load, and because video files are big you don't have to have redundant videos on your other "marketing" server.
so you create multiple servers----"marketing" servers optimized for running scripts, etc and getting signups, and content servers optimized for delivering the member content.
there is a pretty good solution for this. and it involves antihotlinking.com and a custom setup.
i'm sure there are other setups that could work, but AHL is working good for me (it is not the standard AHL setup---it is a custom setup configured just for this situation)
