so it makes me wonder who can use a PC for $300, when one that cost me a grand more is garbage?
The person I'm buying it for is a Mac user. He just wants to play some of the PC games he sees from time-to-time, and a 2.4ghz celeron will play most anything you throw at it with reasonable speed except possibly some of the latest high-end 3d stuff. It'd certainly be more than enough for any sort of work-related task, which is part of the reason why there's a slow down in asset purchases from the big corps lately: those 1Ghz machines still work just fine. Why bother upgrading?

Plus, at $300, it virtually becomes discardable. Use it for a couple years, bequeath it to a school or a friend or whatever, and buy a new $300 computer if you need to keep up with the latest for gaming or whatnot.
