Glutamine is an amino acid found in lots of food... L-glutamine is probably the most available amino acid in your muscle. The purpose of supplementing it is to reduce muscle deterioration that occurs when other tissues need glutamine (so they don't steal the stuff that stored in your muscle cells). No sides.
