And IMO, this is the honeypot - maybe he did intend it to be a scam, maybe he didn't. What's important is with all this bickering and attention (even if it is only on GFY), the guy is likely to hand over any and all donations to the family.
Personally, I find the donation thing may have started out as a scam and this is why: He said he didn't want to open a PP a/c with the fathers email, since his email box will get flooded, so he opened it up himself with a gmail invite - IF this is/started out as a scam, this is an absolute classic line to trick the unwary.
Unfortuantely, there is little direct proof that the donations actually end up with the father, unless he says so publicly. Unless someone has a better idea as to how proof for the donation pot ending up in the right hands can be proven...
Still, if the father endorsed the site publicly, then he must know the hoster and as such must know its content and the fact that a donation fund is there....
