I just started doing a pretty intense workout plan, but from everything I have read you should drink approximately 1 gallon a day but judge by the color of your urine. It should be slightly yellow or clear. If its dark or medium color you need more water.
I usually have water with my protein shake right after I work out then drink at least 2 liters of water the rest of the day. When its all said and done I drinking 2.5 - 3.0 liters of water all day long.
Don't forget about your proteins too.
