Server drive's tape backup
Computer Center of University of Turku has two Sun StorEdge L1800 -systems to back up files on the mainframe. They both have two DLT 7000 -tapedrives and 48 tapeslots. One tape can contain 35-70GB. They are used to secure the unix-computers maintained by the computer center and some NT-servers. With the backup software (SolsticeBackup) it is possible to secure Solaris- and NT- computers and also some computers with Linux-operating system. The capasity of the tape drives is currently 450GB. It is not possible to backup workstations (since there is no sufficient capasity).
