Maybe the question should be rephrased along the lines of:
As an affiliate webmaster, would you be more inclined to sign up for a program if they will pay you for trial signups?
My guess is that if the program is structured as pay per signup then most would go along. If set up as a partnership, there may be issues....as judged by the earlier entries to this thread.
The trial system helps per sign up programs recruit webmaster affiliates. In other situations, it may not work well.
