i too have noticed myspace becoming so popular lately that it's hard to meet someone new without them asking "are you on myspace?" but i also *hate* that every person who thinks they've got elite web design skills fills their entire page with flashy colors and fonts, video clips, animated gifs, wav files that play unsolicited, etc. it's sensory overload and makes it so that i don't even want to scroll down to see who the person is.

that being said, i have met a few people from myspace for networking and those relationships have proven worthwhile, so until myspace restricts it's open design development only to people with taste, i'll have to make do.
