I hate to seem self-promoting, but most of what I know about this I wrote into my adult blogging tips article. However, I did write that for an audience of bloggers who aren't really focused on making money in adult, even if they like the idea.

There's only one long-term plan, and that's write every day. You need text for the search engines, and it's got to have a consistent human voice to turn search engine visitors into bookmarked daily visitors, and to get blog links. On my successsful blogs the SE and bookmark traffic is the biggest component. Links from non-commercial bloggers is the second-biggest.

Short term, you'll go mad from the waiting. So don't limit yourself. Link exchanges, purchased links and traffic, toplists, directory sites, trades with TGPs (hard link at your end, scripted return from them, and the smart ones will love you for the quality of your traffic), picture posts, linkdumps -- use everything you know about traffic and apply it to your blog. Why not? The only tricky part is finding ways to do all that while keeping your site clean enough to attract blog links. That's *very* tricky. It's an art. Good luck.
