I live in LA. What part of the state are these 'cheap' coastal places located? There's nothing cheap on the the South Coast of CA. Maybe way the hell up near the Oregon / CA border the coast is cheap, but not in the fun parts.
The average home in LA is $400-500k. If you have that much to spend, then move here.
