I'll add my

and say that investing a bunch of money up front isn't necessary. When I first started I installed apache on my home computer and started hosting my own sites (all AVS) until my ISP freaked when I started burning quite a bit of bandwidth. At that point I got a virtual account and started submitting tgp galleries and freesites. Once I was making a little more I rented a dedicated server and started building my own tgp sites.
The moral of the story is that you might not have to spend a lot of money up front on software (or spread you legs on a webcam) if you're not in a big rush to make a lot of money. I would suggest if you're rent is paid then take the time learning how to build galleries that convert first then spend more money later.
