I got into reading Tarot cards after college. I 'predicted' (accurately) a guy getting married within 6 months. I've had so many people come back to me telling me that what I 'predicted' was true for me to believe that this was more than mere 'chance' or 'probability'. When saw a woman's husband's impending death from renal damage (and she reporting it back to me in 2 weeks), I knew it was time to stop. I haven't read Tarot in over 6 years.
When people ask me if it is Magic or some other supernatural force, I tell them that its based on 2 famous psychologists' work--Freud said there's no such thing as an accident whereas Jung said that all human experience can be categorized in certain ARCHETYPES. Tarot is just that--a random but not accidental sequencing of ARCHETYPICAL situations that arise from a past to point to a future based on that pattern. There are other archetype-based systems, its just that the tarot system had several hundred years head start.
