When she turned 18 4 or 5 years ago she could have quit. She was an ADULT then wasn't she?
How many people remember pop starts from the 70's and 80's? Not many. So eventually she'd be forgotten. Having 5 less years in the spotlight she'd be already on her way being out of the public consciousness.
