A copyright case is an open and shut case under most circumstances. Most of the time they never even go to trial. Copyright laws have a set minimum penalty in place and a Judge MAY award more if he sees fit.
The type of law suits that this new law covers are typically not ones that already have a Federal penalty in place.
I'm not saying you are wrong about the law....I am saying you are wrong about the copyright example you posted.
I copyright images on a monthly basis. Where does your knowledge come from?
