Hell yes, been playing airsoft for about 4 years now!
I've only played paintball a few times, airsoft is much more interesting. Depending how you play it, the game can be a lot slower. One thing that makes airsoft so much better is that someone who spends $1000+ on a gun won't be any better than someone who spends $400. The expensive guns don't perform any better, they are just fancier and rarer.
The biggest problem is finding a place to play. Some paintball fields allow airsoft (or play in off-hours) but they just don't match playing in the woods or inside an actual building. Playing in a public area can get you arrested or even shot. These idiot kids who play in their backyards and bring their guns to parks are doing everyone a huge dis-service and even risking a complete US ban on the things.
Even if you don't want to play the game the guns are great for indoor target practice just to let off some steam after a long day of work. You can pick up fully-automatic gas powered guns like the Glock18c or Mac-11. These things are exact replicas down to the trademarks. You can also buy an electic powered assault rifle. If you want to shoot 300+ BBs at full auto all at once this is the way to go. Even more exciting when you are shooting at an actual person

(wearing the proper safety equipment of course)
