for me it depends on the setting totally... suppose im shopping and the sales girl is cute...first off, i have a good excuse to talk to her, so i will start cracking jokes. second, shes not EXPECTING to get hit on, so its very laid back, no one feels nervous or defensive. if the coversation goes well, ill ask to take her out. works very well.
BUT in a club, FORGET it, i suck. i feel like the odds are stacked against me. Girls are far more defensive, if shes shot every guy is trying to pick her up, etc etc i find girls are much less approachable in clubs. plus its loud, hard to talk, etc ... i dunno maybe its just my, but my game totally disappears in clubs.
