Here's something to consider though:
Not everyone has something to gain by helping others. You're a designer so of course you want to do biz with as many people as possible and newbies can be a gold mine for you if you help the right person get sucessfull.
SEO's and the like on the other hand give two shits about newbies and feel no need to help the masses usually.
So everyone has a different agenda here...
