If you dig a hole you need to deal with the hole. On the other hand, restraint says more about your character than action.

Part of me says, if you want to go to Iraq and you want to be CEO and you want to be treated like anyone else, well, when I fight my buddy Gary and either of us kicks the others as, neither of us is going to go to jail because we both are not pussies.

Another part of me says that anyone who can't control themselves and needs to resort to physical violence is a pussy. Anyone can walk into a bar and pick a fight with someone, not everyone can sit down and have a beer with everyone at the bar.

So, you need to decide for yourself... I'd explain to him that he doesn't need to hit you and that you are an idiot for provoking him into doing it in the first place. So call it a truce and get on with living your lives (together). Next time he says, "Hey! I need some space!" Give it.
