RYE, N.Y. -- A man who was stopped for talking on his cell phone near the I-95 entrance in Rye is in trouble.
Police said they found 10 unlicensed handguns, four of which were loaded, and they discovered the driver, Carlos Caunedo, of Poughkeepsie, didn't have a driver's license. His license had been suspended 19 times.
Officer Michael Anfuso said the routine stop for a cell phone violation Tuesday night was anything but routine. He said "one thing led to another" and a search of the truck kept "turning up gun after gun after gun."
Caunedo was charged with weapons possession and driving without a license. He was freed on $10,000 bail, following his arraignment Thursday.? 2005 by The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
