Other points no one has mentioned.. I formerly lived in Windsor, ON, which is where laser eye surgery was pioneered, apparently..

Anyway, in my research on the subject, there's basically some risk factors:

Like 1% has worse vision (but not blind) after the op.

A slightly higher percentage has no improvement.

The vast majority has just about ideal results.

However, the op is known to fuck with your night-vision sometimes - you know how you're driving at night and oncoming lights fuck you up? They fuck you up much worse. Not sure exactly why, but that's what I've heard.

My optometrist told me when I asked her (I wear a slight prescription) that most people who go in for eye surgery are hoping to get sight as good as mine (I am required to wear glasses while driving.)

So, caveat emptor. All that said, I will probably do it in the future as well.
