Late 1980s. World Wide Web did not exist. Usenet pics were out there, but I did not have access. I did have access to an academic machine that would do gopher searches. Gopher searchs for porn keywords that returned me lists of fruitful FTP directories and passwords....

Content was mostly BBS scans. Anybody remember the BBS days? Downloading pics at 1200 baud and watching them draw on your screen line by line?

When I finally got decent (i.e., flat rate) dialup access in 1994 I kept my modem online 24/7 running pictures robots against Usenet. There wasn't much useful on the Web for free for a coupla more years.

Gawd, now y'all make me feel old.
