I thought we won the cold war because every President, and every Congress, since 1945 invested the money to stay ahead of the Soviets in military technology. It was called the arms race. Over that period of time we invested untold trillions of dollars. At the end of the cold war we had a military triad that was unmatched, around 50,000 nukes, and under President Reagan, research was begun on a missile defense shield. The Soviets weak economy broke under the pressure.
Now I find out that those trillions of dollars were spent in vain; it was a speech that was provided to us by Israel that won the cold war.

To those of you that have suggested that the Palestinians pack up and leave; realistically this is not going to happen. The problem is not going to just go away. There does not appear to be any hope for a polictical solution. In my opinion it is going to take pressure on the UN, Israel, the Palestinians, and an outside military force, as well as economic delvelopment for the Palestianians and several generations passing, to resolve the problem.
