Hinduism = Karma, everyone else followed. Karma happens in this life, from past life and current life events.
Karma is religion when it's based around following a god(s).
Eckankar for example, uses Karma in its teachings of life, but not pushed around a god to follow. While "god" does exist in Eck, god isn?t' given a persona, more the spirit of life/love which helps guide you through this life and onto the next.
Looking at Karma as ?if I do something good, something good will happen to me?. Doesn?t work. Karma is about pure love from within the soul.
You don?t have to believe in Karma, it doesn?t mater if you do or don?t. Good people seem to have good things happen to them and negative people don?t seem to move on in life. Good things in life isn?t getting a nice big house, or a new car, or a million dollar idea, it?s about you and your life your love and your love for others. True happiness.
The only time you can argue Karma is when it?s based around a religion.
